{"id":132659,"date":"2026-07-21T12:06:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T12:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/132659\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T12:06:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T12:06:10","slug":"president-aliyev-german-chancellor-merz-meet-in-berlin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/132659\/","title":{"rendered":"President Aliyev, German Chancellor Merz meet in Berlin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 21, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">News.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/azertag.az\/en\/xeber\/president_ilham_aliyev_held_one_on_one_meeting_with_federal_chancellor_friedrich_merz-4330189\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">AZERTAC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, President Aliyev, who is paying an official visit to Germany, held bilateral and expanded <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/news\/azerbaijani-german-presidents-meet-in-berlin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">talks<\/a> with Frank-Walter Steinmeier.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steinmeier described Azerbaijan and Germany as \u201cislands of stability\u201d against the backdrop of events unfolding in the world and the region.<\/p>\n<p>He congratulated President Aliyev on the progress achieved in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process and specifically highlighted Azerbaijan\u2019s role in Europe\u2019s energy security.<\/p>\n<p>President Aliyev, in turn, also fondly recalled Steinmeier\u2019s visit to Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n<p>Touching upon Azerbaijan\u2019s role in Europe\u2019s energy security, President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan is now exporting gas to Germany and Austria as well.<\/p>\n<p>During the conversation, the leaders noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are friendly and that broad opportunities exist for developing economic and business ties.
