For its latest LEGO Ideas building kit, The LEGO Group<\/a> is digging up a treasured film from the \u201980s: The Goonies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Submitted by Vaggelis Ntezes, a 3D artist and Fan Designer from Greece, this 2,912-piece set recreates classic scenes from the action-adventure, like the caves, the Fratellis\u2019 hideaway, One-Eyed Willy\u2019s treasure room, and even a nod to the infamous deleted octopus scene. From dropping boulders with the Copper Bones Skeleton Key to tripping trapdoors by tickling the Skeleton Organ, this collectible<\/a> ensures the legacy of The Goonies never says die.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The building set<\/a> features 12 minifigures, including Mikey, Data, Mouth, Chunk, Mama Fratelli, Andy, and Willy, as well as hidden skeletons and other props. Each character carries their iconic accessories, like Data\u2019s utility belt, Mouth\u2019s hairbrush, and Sloth\u2019s pirate hat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn designing this set, I revisited my childhood memories \u2014 growing up in the \u201980s, playing with LEGO Pirates sets and watching The Goonies,\u201d said Ntezes. \u201cCombining nostalgia, fantasy, and creativity, I wanted to build something that offered both playability and display value. The final design merges the legendary Inferno with the cave system and booby traps, capturing the spirit of adventure that made the film so unforgettable.\u201d<\/p>\n

To celebrate the set\u2019s maiden voyage, The LEGO Group<\/a> teamed up with Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, known around the Goon Docks as the gadget mastermind Data. In the mini-film, Quan reprises his role as he guides fans around the model ship, showcasing the hidden booby traps and sharing his favorite behind-the-scenes memories. As an extra treasure, fans who purchase the LEGO Ideas The Goonies set from Nov. 1-7 will also receive a free gift \u2014 The Walshes\u2019 Attic. This 179-piece scene recreates the moment Willy discovers the treasure map, complete with Irving and Irene Walsh minifigures and the pirate painting Mouth sticks his tongue through.\u00a0<\/p>\n
