One person has been killed and 15 others injured after a driver struck people attending a pride parade in Berlin, Germany, according to officials and local media. Some of the injured suffered life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at about 10 p.m. on Saturday during the Christopher Street Day parade near Lenn\u00e9stra\u00dfe in Berlin\u2019s Tiergarten park, according to police<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police said a vehicle drove into the park and struck several people. dts<\/a> reported that one person died and 15 others were injured, some of them critically.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness told BZ Berlin<\/a> that the vehicle was a white van traveling at least 80 kilometers per hour, or 50 mph. It reportedly entered the park from Tiergartenstra\u00dfe near a tunnel and struck multiple people before crashing into a tree.<\/p>\n

The driver then fled on foot, according to the report. Police are searching the area for possible suspects.<\/p>\n

Numerous police officers and rescue workers from the Berlin Fire Department and other emergency organizations are at the scene. Several patients are currently being treated inside the park.<\/p>\n

Organizers ended the pride parade in the area, and police asked attendees to leave and follow instructions from emergency workers.<\/p>\n
