{"id":135677,"date":"2026-07-27T01:11:56","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T01:11:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/135677\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T01:11:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T01:11:56","slug":"tallinn-black-nights-film-fest-rebels-with-a-cause-critics-picks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/135677\/","title":{"rendered":"Tallinn Black Nights Film Fest Rebels With a Cause, Critics&#8217; Picks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/tallinn-black-nights-film-festival-2025-competition-jury-1236397516\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">29th edition<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/tallinn-black-nights-film-festival-2025-unveils-documentary-1236400081\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival<\/a> (P\u00d6FF) has unveiled the selections for its Rebels With a Cause and Critics\u2019 Picks competitions, which celebrate \u201cdaring cinema and fearless storytelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe fourth edition of the\u00a0Critics\u2019 Picks competition\u00a0is \u201ca cinematic feast for the brave and the curious, offering 10 dazzling world premieres handpicked from across the globe and served fresh in Tallinn,\u201d organizers said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNikolaj Nikitin, curator of the program, describes this year\u2019s lineup as \u201cas wildly diverse as its passport stamps \u2014 from Iran to Peru, Canada to Tunisia, Mexico to Taiwan, France to Lithuania, and yes, Estonia too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPromising \u201cgenre-bending gems that defy borders and expectations,\u201d he added: \u201cFrom gritty noir and sharp political thrillers to sensual coming-of-age dramas and cinema-soaked thrill rides that remix the rules of storytelling \u2014 think of it as a gourmet menu for the cinephile palate: rich, risky, and radically original.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBhutanese director Dechen Roder,\u00a0German film journalist Thomas Schultze, and\u00a0French producer Jean-Baptiste Babin make up the jury for the Critics\u2019 Picks selection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Rebels With a Cause competition\u00a0was launched in 2017, and this year, features an all-world-premiere lineup. \u201cRebels consolidates its commitment to the most daring films, combining powerful debuts \u2014 from Japan, Turkey, and Canada \u2014 with rebellious masters, such as Llu\u00eds Mi\u00f1arro, Jamie Adams, and Adri\u00e1n Sitaru,\u201d highlighted curator Javier Garcia Puerto. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHe concluded: \u201cRebels\u2019 spirit goes beyond bold language and screen \u2014 featuring striking performances by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/james-mcavoy-california-schemin-1236352115\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James McAvoy<\/a>, choreographer Llu\u00eds Garau, and the posthumous appearance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/marisa-paredes-dead-pedro-almodovar-1236089540\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marisa Paredes<\/a>.\u201d McAvoy stars in Jamie Adams\u2019 Turn Up the Sun!, which will get an out-of-competition screening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe jury for Rebels with a Cause\u00a0is made up of\u00a0Iranian director Ali Asgari,\u00a0British film critic and curator Rogan Graham, and\u00a0Spanish producer Alicia Reginato.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCheck out the full lineups for the two P\u00d6FF sections below. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCritics\u2019 Picks<br \/><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/poff.ee\/en\/film\/a-summer-tale\/\">A Summer Tale<\/a>, dir.
