{"id":136463,"date":"2026-07-28T13:17:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T13:17:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/136463\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T13:17:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T13:17:51","slug":"babylon-berlin-sets-date-for-series-finale-video-game-audio-spinoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/136463\/","title":{"rendered":"Babylon Berlin Sets Date for Series finale, Video Game, Audio Spinoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe end is near.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/babylon-berlin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_babylon-berlin_1\" data-tag=\"babylon-berlin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Babylon Berlin<\/a>, the epic German noir series tracing life in Berlin from the roaring 1920s to rise of the Nazis, has set the date for <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/The%20groundbreaking%20German%20period%20epic%20will%20close%20with%20a%20final%208-episode%20arc%20leading%20up%20to%20the%20Nazis%20seizing%20power%20in%201933.\" target=\"_blank\">its series finale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAll eight episodes of the show\u2019s final season will premiere on Sept. 10 on the on-demand platform of German public broadcaster ARD and on air, in two binge blocks of four episodes each, on Sept. 19 and Sept. 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe final season is set during the last days of the German republic, from February 1933, just after Adolf Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/germany\/\" id=\"auto-tag_germany_1\" data-tag=\"germany\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Germany<\/a>, through March 5, when, following a violent and murderous campaign against his political opponents, he held elections that would secure his absolute power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tVolker Bruch and Liv Lisa Fries will return to reprise their lead roles as police detective Gereon Rath and assistant Charlotte Ritter for the final, eight-episode arc. Series co-creators and showrunners Henk Handlogten, Achim von Borries and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tom-tykwer\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-tykwer_1\" data-tag=\"tom-tykwer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Tykwer<\/a> return for the final season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen it first launched in 2017, Babylon Berlin was billed as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/how-babylon-berlin-team-broke-all-rules-make-worlds-biggest-foreign-language-series-1171013\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">most expensive non-English-language drama<\/a> of all time. It has proved one of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/babylon-berlin-takes-top-honors-at-german-tv-awards-1079614\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">critically-acclaimed as well<\/a>, although its visibility in the U.S. suffered after the show was dropped by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix_1\" data-tag=\"netflix\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a>, which carried the first three seasons. The show found a new U.S. home in 2024 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/babylon-berlin-stars-season-4-mhz-choice-1235931717\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">boutique streamer MhZ Choice<\/a>, where season 4 premiered last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTo accompany the finale, the show\u2019s creators are launching a Babylon Berlin-themed video game, developed by von Borries together with ARD gaming company SWR X Lab; a making-of-documentary from director Christian Jakob, in collaboration with Handloegten; and an audio drama series set in the world of Babylon Berlin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe show\u2019s final season was produced by X Filme Creative Pool together with ARD Degeto and regional public broadcasters WDR, SWR, HR and Radio Bremen, and production and sales group Beta Film in cooperation with RBB. Uwe Schott, Tom Tykwer, Stefan Arndt and Michael Polle produced the series for X Filme, with Beta Film\u2019s Jan Mojto, Dirk Sch\u00fcrhoff and Moritz Herzogenberg; Christoph Pellander and Carolin Haasis for ARD Degeto, Alexander Bickel and Caren Toennissen-Brand for WDR, Manfred Hattendorf and Monika Denisch for SWR, and J\u00f6rg Himstedt for HR.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tYou can check out the series finale trailer (in German) below. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The end is near.
