Carriers deployed 243 vessels, up from 235 a year earlier, while average vessel size rose slightly from 1,253 TEU to 1,294 TEU.

Maersk strengthened its position as the second-largest mainline operator in the region, increasing its market share to 16.2% (50,800 TEU) from 13.5% (39,800 TEU) a year earlier. The 2.7 percentage-point gain was the largest recorded by any operator in the segment.

According to Alphaliner, the increase reflects the continued expansion of the hub-and-spoke network introduced last year under the Gemini cooperation with Hapag-Lloyd.

Credit: Alphaliner

MSC remained the largest carrier in the intra-North Europe market, maintaining a 21.2% market share, broadly unchanged from 21.3% a year earlier. The carrier increased deployed capacity by 6.2%, slightly below the overall market growth rate, but retained the leading position by capacity.

DP World ranked third with an 11.0% market share, down from 12.2% a year earlier, ahead of CMA CGM and X-Press Feeders. The company rebranded its intra-North Europe operations in late 2025 after retiring the Unifeeder brand.

CMA CGM was the only mainline operator to record declines in both capacity and market share. Its deployed capacity fell 14.4%, from 35,300 TEU to 30,200 TEU, while its market share dropped from 12.0% to 9.6%, placing it fourth in the regional rankings.

Alphaliner also noted continued investment by Asian carriers in the intra-North Europe trade, with operators collectively adding 4,700 TEU of capacity over the past year. Ocean Network Express (ONE) climbed from ninth to seventh place in the rankings, while COSCO Group retained ninth position, increasing its market share from 2.5% to 2.9%.

Maersk recorded the largest increase in both deployed capacity and market share among carriers operating intra-North Europe container…

[224
14380,2012,245,53354
post-137038","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-maersk","tag-cma-cgm","tag-hapag-lloyd","tag-maersk","tag-shipping-market
["GET
