AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT) \u2013 Two firefighters were taken to the hospital, and multiple others were evaluated after battling a fire in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
Related: Montgomery County EMS revives cat rescued from Amsterdam house fire<\/a><\/p>\n On August 1, the City of Amsterdam Professional Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Brookside Avenue.<\/p>\n According to the Amsterdam Professional Firefighters, crews encountered heavy fire from the front of the building, extending along the side of the building and into the roofline. Crews inside battled intense heat and heavy fire inside the first-floor apartment while knocking down the bulk of the fire. Crews say the occupants were not home at the time of the fire.<\/p>\n The Amsterdam Professional Firefighters say the fire was declared under control in around 50 minutes. The scene was then turned over to the fire investigation team.<\/p>\n Related: NY is cracking down on speeders again starting Aug. <\/a>3<\/p>\n Crews say due to the outdoor temperatures and fire conditions, five firefighters required on-scene medical evaluation.
