She reiterated that the territory cannot be bought and stressed that the issue concerns \u201cone of the most basic democratic principles\u201d \u2014 respect for sovereignty and self-determination. She added that Greenland\u2019s people have clearly stated they do not want to become part of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>US push framed as security priority<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Trump proposed acquiring Greenland, describing it as strategically important for US national security. Danish leaders rejected the proposal, maintaining that the territory is not for sale.<\/p>\n<p>Frederiksen\u2019s remarks follow renewed attention after Trump shared posts suggesting Greenland could become a US territory, citing Arctic security concerns.
