{"id":140343,"date":"2026-08-04T16:10:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T16:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/140343\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T16:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T16:10:11","slug":"x-blocks-another-imamoglu-campaign-account-in-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/140343\/","title":{"rendered":"X blocks another \u0130mamo\u011flu campaign account in Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-04-at-11.31.58-AM.png\" data-caption=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"365\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- alt=\"\" title=\"Screenshot 2026-08-04 at 11.31.58\u202fAM\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-04-at-11.31.58-AM-696x365.png\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"365\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screenshot-2026-08-04-at-11.31.58-AM-696x365.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Screenshot 2026-08-04 at 11.31.58\u202fAM\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social media platform X on Monday blocked access in Turkey to another account operated by jailed \u0130stanbul Mayor Ekrem \u0130mamo\u011flu\u2019s presidential campaign office, the Freedom of Expression Association (\u0130F\u00d6D)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ifade.org.tr\/engelliweb\/ekrem-imamoglunun-youtube-kanali-ve-cumhurbaskanligi-aday-ofisi-x-hesabi-erisime-engellendi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The account, which has more than 226,000 followers and posts messages on \u0130mamo\u011flu\u2019s behalf, changed its handle to \u201cCAOIletisim11\u201d after the blocking order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkish authorities had <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-moves-to-block-jailed-istanbul-mayors-youtube-channel-and-campaign-account\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ordered<\/a> the account blocked on July 16 under Article 8\/A of Law No. 5651, citing national security and public order grounds. No specific post or other content was publicly identified as prompting the decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u0130mamo\u011flu, widely seen as President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan\u2019s strongest political rival, was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkish-court-arrests-istanbul-mayor-in-graft-probe-amid-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">arrested<\/a>\u00a0in March 2025 on corruption charges that critics say are politically motivated and intended to sideline him ahead of the 2028 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is standing trial with more than 400 defendants on charges including establishing a criminal organization, bribery, bid rigging, fraud and money laundering. \u0130mamo\u011flu denies the charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigations into the \u0130stanbul Metropolitan Municipality are widely seen by critics as part of growing pressure on the main opposition Republican People\u2019s Party (CHP).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Turkish court also recently <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-blocks-access-to-website-covering-defense-in-imamoglu-trial\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blocked<\/a> access to a website reporting defense arguments and courtroom developments in \u0130mamo\u011flu\u2019s trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u0130mamo\u011flu and his campaign office have faced repeated restrictions on their social media accounts since his arrest. His <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-moves-to-block-imamoglus-intl-x-account-following-ban-on-main-handle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">personal X account<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/stockholmcf.org\/turkey-blocks-imamoglus-campaign-account-for-fourth-time\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">several campaign accounts<\/a> were previously blocked in Turkey on similar grounds. Authorities also ordered his YouTube channel blocked in July, although it remains accessible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Online censorship in Turkey has expanded sharply in recent years.
