Steffen Medhus Thimes is returning to wind turbine maker Vestas as a lead project manager after stints at rival supplier Siemens Gamesa and developer Orsted.<\/p>\n
Medhus Thimes announced yesterday on LinkedIn that he has re-joined the Danish manufacturer and will serve as manager for main component exchange within offshore service campaigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cDay one at Vestas. Again,\u201d he posted on LinkedIn. \u201cSixteen years after I left, I’m back… The job: keep offshore campaigns and jack-up vessels running like they’re supposed to, turn methodology into something people actually use and make sure the people doing the hard part offshore have what they need from the people doing the planning part onshore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Medhus Thimes left his role as a Vestas design engineer in 2011 and moved to Dong Energy, staying until 2015 by which time the developer had rebranded as Orsted.<\/p>\n
During that time, he climbed the ranks from QC inspector\/engineer to technical project lead and project manager.<\/p>\n
Between 2015 and 2019, Medhus Thimes was a senior technical project lead for Danish developer Orsted \u2013 working on Hornsea Project One, one of the world\u2019s largest offshore wind projects.<\/p>\n
He then worked for German-owned Siemens Gamesa for five years, with roles ranging from platform manager for offshore equipment to head of equipment project management office.<\/p>\n
Before rejoining Vestas, Medhus Thimes worked at the Danish wind industry company Enabl A\/S for a year.<\/p>\n
Vestas was approached for comment on its new hire.<\/p>\n
