{"id":143155,"date":"2026-08-10T14:00:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T14:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/143155\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T14:00:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T14:00:34","slug":"oslo-court-extends-hoibys-house-arrest-by-four-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/143155\/","title":{"rendered":"Oslo court extends H\u00f8iby&#8217;s house arrest by four weeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Marius Borg H\u00f8iby, the eldest son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, must remain in pre-trial detention for a further four weeks, an Oslo court ruled on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 29-year-old will continue to serve the detention under house arrest with an ankle tag, the news agency NTB reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">H\u00f8iby was sentenced to four years in prison in June, though the verdict has not yet become final.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was found guilty of two counts of rape and violence against a former girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A restraining order is in place to protect her, which H\u00f8iby has already violated on several occasions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police argued there was a risk of H\u00f8iby committing further offences and requested an extension of the house arrest. The court agreed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">H\u00f8iby sought release on condition that he stay away from certain areas, but the court rejected his application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">NTB cited H\u00f8iby&#8217;s defence lawyer, Petar Sekulic, as saying that he would now review the court&#8217;s decision together with H\u00f8iby and consider a possible appeal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The extended pre-trial detention runs until September 7. H\u00f8iby is permitted to leave his residence for purposes such as medical appointments or visiting sick family members.
