A GREENLAND flag has been spotted at the Winter Olympics \u2013 while the US men\u2019s team were playing hockey.<\/p>\n

The flag was raised during Saturday\u2019s preliminary game between Team USA<\/a> and Denmark.<\/a><\/p>\n

It comes after President Donald Trump made clear his public desire<\/a> to buy the region.<\/p>\n

Greenland <\/a>is controlled by Denmark \u2013 who were the US team\u2019s opponent for Saturday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s plans threatened to strain relations between the US and Europe.<\/p>\n

The President claimed that controlling Greenland was vital to national security.<\/p>\n

Trump recently insisted he will not \u201cuse force\u201d to acquire Greenland but threatened allies who opposed his plan with tariffs.<\/p>\n

Vice President JD Vance attended the Winter Olympics<\/a> opening ceremony in Milan on February 6.<\/p>\n

He was booed as he was shown on the big screen<\/a> at the iconic San Siro Stadium.<\/p>\n

Vance has warned athletes to stick to sport and not make political statements<\/a> during the Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, you\u2019re going to have some Olympic athletes who pop off about politics,\u201d Vance said, per CNN.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like that happens every Olympics.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy advice to them would be to try to bring the country together, and when you\u2019re representing the country, you\u2019re representing Democrats and Republicans.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re there to play a sport, and you\u2019re there to represent your country and hopefully win a medal.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not there to pop off about politics.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMost Olympic athletes, whatever their politics, are doing a great job,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cCertainly enjoy the support of the entire country, and I think recognize that the way to bring the country together is not to show up in a foreign country and attack the President of the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s to play your sport and to represent the country well.\u201d<\/p>\n
