(WO) \u2014 Greenland Energy Company and JV partner 80 Mile are now targeting winter 2027 for permits covering the company\u2019s planned oil exploration program in East Greenland\u2019s Jameson Land basin after regulators indicated the project will require a more extensive review.<\/p>\n
80 Mile, which is leading the permitting process, received the updated guidance from the Government of Greenland. Greenland Energy said the partners are adjusting project planning and logistics to accommodate the revised timeline.<\/p>\n
\u201cOperating in the Arctic requires patience, flexibility and a long-term perspective,\u201d said Robert Price, CEO of Greenland Energy. \u201cWe will use this time to refine our plans and deepen relationships with local communities, strategic partners and relevant authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Greenland Energy is an exploration-stage company targeting the hydrocarbon potential of the Jameson Land basin, where it holds an approximately 2-million-acre onshore licensed position. The company is preparing what it describes as the first modern onshore drilling campaign in the region.<\/p>\n
The extended regulatory review will also give the partners additional time to evaluate logistics and infrastructure requirements associated with the exploration program, according to the company.<\/p>\n
