Regulations in Berlin stipulate that petrol stations throughout Germany may only raise their prices once a day, at noon.

It was revealed last Thursday that thousands of violations of the 12 noon rule had been reported to the responsible Senate Department. In Berlin, the rule was violated more than 2,300 times in April and more than 4,300 times in May.

According to the Department for Economic Affairs, 30 Berlin petrol stations raised their prices significantly before or after noon in April. In May, this number increased by seven petrol stations within the city limits. In some cases, the same petrol stations attracted attention in both months for what were suspected to be unauthorised price increases.

The Department for Economic Affairs has sent hundreds of letters of inquiry to the petrol station operators. So far, 79 administrative offence proceedings have been initiated. Only Lower Saxony has imposed fines on petrol station operators to date.

IMAGO / serienlicht Several petrol stations in Berlin raised their prices past the legal curfew of 12 pm in…

[99
112,69075,21752,190,38,8084
post-144700","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-berlin","tag-berlin","tag-cost-of-living-crisis","tag-fuel","tag-germany","tag-news","tag-prices
["GET
