{"id":145125,"date":"2026-08-13T14:41:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T14:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/145125\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T14:41:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T14:41:10","slug":"poland-says-it-thwarted-russian-plot-to-kill-an-american-citizen-in-a-nato-country-wral-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/145125\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland says it thwarted Russian plot to kill an American citizen in a NATO country :: WRAL.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WARSAW (AP) \u2014 A Russian plot to kill a Ukrainian American citizen in Warsaw was thwarted by Poland before it could be carried out, the Polish prime minister said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>It was the first time that \u201csomeone on the order of Russia\u201d sought to attack an American citizen on the territory of another NATO country, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.<\/p>\n<p>A suspect, who was allegedly recruited by Russia&#8217;s secret services, was detained by Polish authorities on Aug. 7.<\/p>\n<p>The American Ukrainian citizen \u201cwas uncomfortable for the Putin regime,\u201d Tusk said in a news conference.<\/p>\n<p>The operation was carried out in cooperation with U.S. services, said Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland\u2019s minister overseeing intelligence services.
