Mayor Glenn McLaughlin called the regular meeting of the Warsaw City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.<\/p>\n
The council approved three building permits: one for a concrete slab for a basketball hoop, another for a cement slab with a storage shed, and one for installation of solar panels. The McKenzie Street bridge and road closure was approved.<\/p>\n
The Intergovernmental Agreement for Warsaw Road was approved by Warsaw and Hancock County; Hamilton opted not to participate.<\/p>\n
A sealed bid from W. L. Miller to install gravel and chips on Seventh Street, Underwood, and Webster, among other locations, was accepted. The cost of $106,324.50 will be covered with motor fuel tax funds. A wheel loader for $130,950 was purchased with $92,400 earned from sales at an auction: Backhoe sold for $78,000; bucket for $1,950; mower for $50; paint sprayer for $7,600; crossteck for $1,550; dump truck for $2,800.<\/p>\n
The wheel loader will come with an 84-month bumper to bumper warranty to drastically reduce maintenance costs.<\/p>\n
The Council discussed\/approved the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce\u2019s proposed dirt hill bike course at the fairgrounds or the riverfront.<\/p>\n
The Council voted unanimously to enforce Ordinance No. 910, the Water Disconnect Fee Ordinance, which was passed on Feb. 24, 2021. The ordinance stipulates that water services will be disconnected if bills are not paid within 60 days after they have been issued and will not be reinstated until all past due charges, including penalties, are paid.<\/p>\n
Water service will also be disconnected if the unpaid balance exceeds $125. A city representative will be sent to disconnect the water and a charge of $100 will be added to the overdue amount. If the City is contacted to reconnect service after an employee\u2019s regular work day, the water service will be charged a four-hour overtime fee according to the employee\u2019s pay rate.<\/p>\n
The City will not refund water deposits until residents vacate properties and accounts are paid in full.<\/p>\n
The Council unanimously approved closing Main Street during the Car Show on Sept. 4.<\/p>\n
