{"id":147878,"date":"2026-08-18T10:57:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T10:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/147878\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T10:57:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T10:57:12","slug":"roslikovs-names-date-for-his-return-to-latvia-arrest-order-remains-in-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/147878\/","title":{"rendered":"Ros\u013cikovs names date for his return to Latvia \u2013 arrest order remains in force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Tuesday, Riga City Court decided not to alter the preventive measure imposed on former Riga City Council member Aleksejs Ros\u013cikovs, meaning that the order for his detention remains in force, LETA learned from the court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As previously reported, Ros\u013cikovs has currently fled to Belarus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Svetlana \u010culkova, chairwoman of the board of the Stability! party, previously said that Ros\u013cikovs plans to return to Latvia after the Saeima elections scheduled for this autumn. Ros\u013cikovs is running as the second candidate on the Stability! party\u2019s Riga electoral list. According to \u010culkova, he will return to Latvia on the 4th of October to \u201cimmediately resume political work together with the party team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Asked whether Ros\u013cikovs would return to Latvia even if the party failed to win seats in the 15th Saeima, \u010culkova did not provide a specific answer, saying that the party was not even considering the possibility of failing to secure the 5% of votes required to enter parliament.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ros\u013cikovs said that the elections are not the finish line but the beginning of a new stage. \u201cI will be in Latvia as early as the 4th of October to continue working for the benefit of our voters. Our team has a clear vision and is determined to defend people\u2019s interests through concrete action rather than empty promises,\u201d Ros\u013cikovs stressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The party emphasises that regardless of the election results,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">its priorities will remain active work for the benefit of society, regular dialogue with residents<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">and consistent implementation of its programme. Stability! says Ros\u013cikovs\u2019 return to Latvia will mark an important beginning of the next stage of its work, with the main objective being to represent voters\u2019 interests and achieve practical solutions to issues of national importance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As previously reported, the leading candidates on the Stability! party\u2019s lists for the 15th Saeima elections will be \u010culkova, P\u0101vels Kuzmins, Nata\u013cja Mar\u010denko-Jodko, Ludmila Rjazanova and Igors Orlovs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It has also been reported that several MPs \u2013 Dmitrijs Kovo\u013cenko, I\u013cja Ivanovs, Igors Judins and Amils Sa\u013cimovs \u2013 left Stability! at the beginning of this year. As a result, the party\u2019s parliamentary group ceased to exist because it no longer had the minimum five MPs required to maintain a parliamentary faction. \u010culkova, who chaired the party\u2019s parliamentary group, said that the four remaining Stability! MPs would continue their work in parliament as independent members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was also reported that<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">at the end of May, Riga City Council decided to revoke Ros\u013cikovs\u2019 mandate as a city councillor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The decision was taken because Ros\u013cikovs had failed to attend more than half of the council meetings over a three-month period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, the Riga City Court in the Latgale District decided to change the preventive measure imposed on Ros\u013cikovs, who had travelled to Belarus, ordering his detention. The request was submitted by prosecutor Kaspars Andru\u0161kins when the court convened for a hearing in the criminal case in which Ros\u013cikovs is accused of inciting national hatred. At the same time, the court ordered that Ros\u013cikovs be placed on the wanted list, and proceedings were suspended until he is located.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ros\u013cikovs acknowledged that he is in Belarus and explained that he did not attend the court hearing or return to Latvia because he feared for his life after receiving telephone threats from people who had threatened to \u201ccut off his head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Ros\u013cikovs, Latvia\u2019s State Security Service had offered to place him in a safe house for six months, but he declined because he did not want to wait for the threats against him to be carried out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ros\u013cikovs is accused of inciting national and ethnic hatred.
