\n\tChinese e-commerce<\/a> platform Temu<\/a> is seeking to support Denmark<\/a>\u2018s startup ecosystem, two years after its meteoric rise in popularity in the Nordic country despite government<\/a> warnings about the unsafe products sold on the site.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Temu<\/a> announced it is partnering with Danish Startup Group (DSG), a volunteer-run non-profit based in Copenhagen that conducts mentorship and networking events for early-stage founders. Under the new partnership, Temu<\/a> will take part in DSG\u2019s programs and events, working directly with DSG\u2019s team and the broader network of founders and companies it supports.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement, a Temu spokesperson said the company looks forward \u201cto contributing to Denmark<\/a>\u2019s startup scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDSG, which was founded in 2007, gives the Chinese platform access to Denmark\u2019s startup ecosystem valued at nearly $64 billion. The country ranked 17th worldwide in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026 by StartupBlink.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe partnership comes as Temu<\/a> grows its presence in the Danish market. The online retailer launched in the country in 2023 and opened its site to Danish sellers a year later. It has quickly become one of the most downloaded shopping apps in Denmark, according to local news reports.<\/p>\n

Nordic consumers are drawn to Temu because of its competitive prices. A 2025 survey from Kantar Media, which polled over 4,000 shoppers across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland, found that 86 percent of respondents said they either shop on the site or are familiar with the platform.<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite its popularity with price-conscious consumers, Temu, along with other Chinese e-commerce<\/a> platforms, is unpopular among EU regulators. Partnerships like the one with DSG will test whether or not it can rehabilitate its image. <\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway issued a joint statement saying they would cooperate to \u201cbring a halt to products that are harmful to health and the environment from operators such as Temu, Shein, and Wish.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTomas Zhang Mathiesen, DSG founder and CEO, is optimistic about Temu\u2019s impact. <\/p>\n
