{"id":148921,"date":"2026-08-19T20:44:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T20:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/148921\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T20:44:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T20:44:11","slug":"hs-poll-national-coalition-support-falls-to-five-year-low","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/148921\/","title":{"rendered":"HS poll: National Coalition support falls to five-year low"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Support for Prime Minister Petteri Orpo\u2019s National Coalition Party has fallen to 16.5 per cent, its lowest level of the current parliamentary term, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs.fi\/politiikka\/art-2000012212668.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Helsingin Sanomat poll<\/a> published on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The party lost 0.2 percentage points from the previous HS poll in July. Its support has not fallen below the latest figure in the newspaper\u2019s polling since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t &#13;<\/p>\n<p>The opposition Social Democratic Party remains Finland\u2019s most popular party with 23.8 per cent support. Its rating was unchanged from July, leaving it 7.3 percentage points ahead of National Coalition.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Finns Party, which sits in Orpo\u2019s government, rose 0.4 percentage points to 14.6 per cent and moved ahead of the opposition Centre Party, which remained at 13.7 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Finns Party has recorded the largest increase over the past year among the parties. Its support has risen from 11 per cent in August 2025 to 14.6 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Combined support for the four government parties stands at 38.1 per cent, according to the HS poll.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The Left Alliance received 11.3 per cent, down 0.2 percentage points from July, while the Greens remained at 8.8 per cent. Movement Now recorded 2.3 per cent. The Swedish People\u2019s Party and Christian Democrats recorded no major changes.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Most month-on-month movements remained within the poll\u2019s margin of error.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Research company Verian conducted the survey for Helsingin Sanomat between 14 July and 17 August. It interviewed 2,946 people through an online panel.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The polling period included <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helsinkitimes.fi\/www.helsinkitimes.fi\/finland\/finland-news\/politics\/29079-finland-s-parliament-debates-confidence-in-orpo-over-garden-helsinki.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">political debate over the Garden Helsinki project<\/a>.
