For most people, pedalling through hundreds of punishing miles is a test of pure physical endurance. <\/p>\n

For a dedicated trio of cyclists, however, every turn of the wheel carries a far deeper purpose. <\/p>\n

Operating under the banner of Riding Against Cancer (RAC), these volunteer riders are turning sweat, grit, and open tarmac into vital funding and support for families whose lives have been upended by a cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n

At the core of this relentless mission are Russell Lord and Matt Stone from Milton Keynes, joined by Ian Morgan from Swansea. <\/p>\n

Long recognised for tackling brutal long-distance routes, the team\u2019s gruelling efforts are fuelled by deeply personal motivation. <\/p>\n

Every exhausting climb and endless stretch of road is driven by love and remembrance, serving as a living tribute to the late Ann Vivian Lord and Anita Morgan.<\/p>\n

Now gearing up for their most ambitious challenge yet – RidingAgainstCancerV3 -the trio has locked their sights on raising more than \u00a320,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support<\/a>. <\/p>\n

As the miles stack up, these three riders continue to prove that while cancer changes lives, relentless determination and community spirit can carve a path toward hope.<\/p>\n

The team’s latest charity ride saw members tackle another challenging route, cycling from St David’s to Lowestoft in just five days. <\/p>\n

Battling the UK heatwave and long hours in the saddle, the cyclists completed the event on July 16, 2026 with smiles on their faces and fundraising totals continuing to climb. <\/p>\n

Ian Morgan said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way, it has been incredible and made the long days easier. <\/p>\n

“I’d also like to thank my brother, Gareth Morgan, for driving alongside us the whole way and providing us with water and snacks when we needed it”.<\/p>\n

With one successful ride completed, the team is already preparing for its next and perhaps most ambitious adventure yet – a multi-day charity cycle from the UK to Berlin. <\/p>\n

The international challenge will see the group cover hundreds of miles across Europe, testing both physical endurance and mental determination as they ride through several countries before reaching the German capital. <\/p>\n

The journey is expected to be one of the biggest undertakings in the group’s history and will serve as another opportunity to raise funds while inspiring others to get involved.<\/p>\n

Supporters have followed the team’s progress throughout the year via social media and fundraising pages<\/a>, with donations continuing to arrive after every event. <\/p>\n

A number of businesses, family members and fellow cyclists have also rallied behind the cause, helping the group grow its impact with each new challenge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With a number of sponsorships behind them, mostly breweries, a few worth noting are Mosaic Board Print Ltd, Brewdog, and Haven Holiday Cottages Tenby.<\/p>\n

Knowing the team enjoys a pint of beer after a long ride, what better way to promote the challenge than with a beer mat? <\/p>\n

Mosaic Board Print Ltd have designed many different beer mats for each challenge and have supplied the team with hundreds of them to hand out along the way.<\/p>\n

Keeping with the beer theme, Brewdog has made a Ride Against Cancer beer<\/a> that is available to purchase on the Brewdog website, with all profits going straight to the charity. <\/p>\n

As the team has arranged a raffle to take place some time after the final challenge, many of their sponsors have provided prizes, with the top prize being provided by Haven Holiday Cottages Tenby. <\/p>\n

One lucky winner will win a stay in one of their beautiful cottages for a whole week!<\/p>\n

As preparations intensify for the journey to Berlin, the team hopes more supporters will join them, whether that’s by riding alongside them for a few miles, making a donation, or by cheering them on along the way. <\/p>\n

The event is set to start at Brewdog Waterloo on August 27, 2026, and finish in Berlin on September 3, 2026. <\/p>\n

Cycling a total of around 1400kms in just eight days, passing through France, Belgium, and the Netherlands along the way, it really is the biggest challenge for the team this year.<\/p>\n

Each of the teammates have commented on why they are taking part.<\/p>\n

Russell Lord said: “It’s something I started back in 2022 in memory of my lovely Mum, who we lost to oesophageal cancer in 2012. <\/p>\n

“Mum had raised over \u00a360,000 in her lifetime for cancer charities, and that inspired me to try to raise more. <\/p>\n

“I’ve always enjoyed helping others, and felt that by fundraising, I could do just that… help Macmillan to help others. <\/p>\n

“RAC V1 saw us – myself, my daughter and friends Nat and Rob – raise \u00a310,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. <\/p>\n

“RAC V2 in 2024 saw us – myself and friends Ian, Matt and Rob – raise \u00a320,000 for Macmillan. <\/p>\n

“Now we are doing RAC V3 which will see us doing a year of fundraising and cycling challenges, with the hope of raising over \u00a320,000 for Macmillan.”<\/p>\n

“Cancer is the lottery no-one wants to win. We’ve all been affected by it one way or another. <\/p>\n

Matt Stone said: “I hope by raising money for Macmillan I can play a small part in making things better.”<\/p>\n

Ian Morgan said: “We lost our Mum to cancer and cared for her at the end. It was a difficult time and as our Dad had dementia, he couldn’t grasp what was happening. <\/p>\n

“We didn’t have time to grieve as he deteriorated quite quickly and we then had to care for him. <\/p>\n

“We had great support from everyone and to help keep that support for others is so important. <\/p>\n

“Taking part in Riding Against Cancer has been part of my healing process and to do it with my brothers has been great.”<\/p>\n
