With the showcase celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, it’s impressive to see how dominant Scandinavian style has become on the global fashion stage—just ask Ganni. The Pinterest-obsessed will know a Scandi look when they see one, whether that be a soft, neutral beauty look in the same vein of Matilda Djerf or a more contemporary, eco-conscious take on voluminous dresses and romantic florals à la Cecilie Bahnsen. It’s arguably one of the leading aesthetics of the 2020s, earning a place among the world’s favourite Scandinavian exports (save for ABBA, of course).

On the Spring/Summer 2027 runways, the future of Danish and Scandinavian fashion looked a little like the past. The season referenced vintage dressing, the gritty glamour of the ‘90s, and the mod style of the ‘60s. Ahead, the chicest beauty trends spotted at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Ombré Lips at Alectra Rothschild / Masculina

Anyone in the Bratz camp of the never-ending Bratz versus Barbie debate can count this as a win. Danish brand Alectra Rothschild / Masculina staged a Spring/Summer 2027 runway titled Doll Parts (A Transsexual Choreography). Rothschild likely wasn’t taking inspiration from the makeup of Cloe, Jade, Yasmin, and Sasha, but the label’s love for counterculture is a natural canvas for experimental beauty. The runway showcased a deliberately provocative wardrobe of netted denim and dramatised latex forms, exploring the interplay between trans identities and conventional femininity. Models were given a ’90s ombré lip to match, using the contrast of a deeper brown outline with a glossy, lighter centre to exaggerate the shape of the mouth.

’60s Hair at Nicklas Skovgaard

Stop! In the name of fashion, Nicklas Skovgaard has brought the ’60s girl group back to Copenhagen. Vintage Ford Mustangs rolled into the show, and the models who emerged from the cars were better known as “The Skovgaardettes,” Skovgaard’s fictional girl group based on ’60s legends like The Supremes, The Ronettes, and The Shangri-Las. The collection created a retro fantasy through ginghams and pastels, with hair swept neatly back by wide, jersey-fabric headbands, once beloved (and now back in fashion) by the bouffant-haired Brigitte Bardot.

Flower Power at OpéraSport

The natural world is a limitless pool of inspiration and this season, OpéraSport made the most out of nature’s bounty. The Copenhagen brand presented a collection called Growth, staged at Carl Jacobsen’s historic garden, drawing on its botanical surroundings with lettuce-hem tops and floral motifs stitched onto gauzy blue fabrics. If Jonathan Anderson were tasked with creating a sporty counterpart to his Fall/Winter 2026/2027 Dior collection, it might look something like this. On the beauty front, flowers sprouted atop heads and delicate floral appliqués were placed around models’s eyes in place of shadow. The style may call to mind Ariana Grande’s 2024 Met Gala look (coincidentally also an Anderson creation), but the technique has a longer fashion week history. Petal-like eyeshadow appeared at Kenzo’s Spring/Summer 1998 show, while Giambattista Valli sent models out with fresh flowers framing their faces for Spring/Summer 2020.

Sunburnt Cheeks at Renè

Renè didn’t so much stage a runway show as they did a sailing trip for the crowd at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Jens Skov Østergaard and Kridpat Charoenchaipiyakul—the couple behind Renè—united their respective cultures under their Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Sea Marked. Influenced by the artwork of the Skagen Painters as well as Asian seafaring traditions, clothes featured Thai rope pendants, and a palette of washed blues and moss greens suggestive of coastal life. Models had a generous dose of warm blush swept across their cheeks and the bridge of their nose, as if flushed by the days spent in the sun, salt, and air. Looks like the blush love affair continues.

Glittering Glam at Collina Strada

Clean girl beauty would probably not survive a night out with Collina Strada. For its Copenhagen Fashion Week debut, designer Hillary Taymour presented Delirium in Bloom, a technicolour collection of deadstock chiffon, patchworked fabrics, and most noticeably, sparkles as far as the eye could see. It was spattered onto models’s legs in the form of gold glitter, appeared as a sequinned top layered under a tie-dyed short-sleeve, and was threaded through hair with metallic tinsel. Even upon closer inspection, eyes were dusted with a shimmering inner corner highlight and lips were painted in chrome-like shades. The look feels especially timely given the maximalist makeup renaissance—it would certainly do Zara Larsson and makeup artist Sophia Sinot proud.

This story first appeared on GRAZIA Singapore.

Oh, how far Copenhagen Fashion Week has come.
