In the evening hours, the storm from the south will cover Zemgale, Selija, and Latgale, and then Vidzeme. Later, the storm will reach the northern part of Vidzeme, where in some places, including Valmiera, the strongest winds are forecasted to start around three o&#8217;clock in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest data, wind gusts across Latvia may exceed 20 meters per second, and in some places, 25-30 meters per second. There is a possibility that in some areas along the Vidzeme coast, wind gusts may exceed 30 meters per second.<\/p>\n<p>Before the storm, many regions are expected to experience weak winds or even calm conditions. In Kurzeme, a north wind will shift to a west wind. In the eastern part of the country, a south wind will change to a southwest wind.<\/p>\n<p>In Riga, during the storm, a west wind is expected, with gusts forecasted to reach up to 23 meters per second, and stronger gusts may occur in the northern part of the capital. At the same time, there remains a possibility that the wind in Riga will be stronger &#8211; along the coastal area, gusts may reach or even exceed 30 meters per second.<\/p>\n<p>An orange warning from the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology regarding strong winds in the capital has been issued from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM, and for the rest of the country from 5:00 PM on Saturday to 9:00 AM on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"In the afternoon, the strongest winds are expected in Kurzeme and Lithuania.
