In Zemgale, there were 303 calls, including 73 from the Jēkabpils region and 68 from Jelgava and the Jelgava region. In Kurzeme, 162 reports were registered, and in Vidzeme — 99.

In most cases, firefighters and rescuers were dispatched to the scenes. However, some reports were forwarded to municipal services, volunteer firefighters, or the company Sadales tīkls.

According to Gribuste, the actual number of fallen and damaged trees due to the wind significantly exceeds the number of registered calls. On their way to the call locations, rescuers often clear other fallen trees from the roads. At the same time, municipal services are also engaged in eliminating the consequences of the storm.

Most often, rescuers have to remove fallen trees and branches from the roadway. However, there have also been cases of trees falling on cars, residential houses, and other structures.
##
## One person died, there are injured and rescued

On Saturday evening in Jelgava, a person died after the collapse of building structures. Rescuers extracted him from the rubble and handed him over to the Emergency Medical Service, which confirmed his death.

In the Bauska region, a firefighter-rescuer was injured while eliminating the consequences of the storm. He was handed over to medical personnel. In the Aizkraukle region’s Aiviekste parish, a tree fell on a person.

## Two more people were rescued. In the Malnava parish of the Ludza region, a tree fell on a container, trapping a person inside. In the Valgale parish of the Talsi region, several trees fell on a residential house, and rescuers brought a person out of the building.
##
## Rescuers strengthened duty crews

Due to the rapid increase in the number of calls, VUGD additionally engaged firefighters and formed 10 additional crews in Daugavpils, Jēkabpils, Ilūkste, Aknīste, Viesīte, Nereta, and Dobele on Saturday evening and night.

To handle incoming calls to the emergency number 112 and manage operational resources, 11 additional dispatchers were also engaged.

VUGD urges residents to stay home on Sunday and not to go out specifically to view the consequences of the storm. Even where the wind has calmed down, danger remains: broken branches or damaged trunks may still fall without warning and pose a threat to life and health.

On Sunday morning, firefighters and rescuers, municipal services, and employees of other agencies continued to clear fallen trees and branches from roads, buildings, and other objects, as well as eliminate other dangerous consequences of the strong winds.

According to Gribuste, the scale of the destruction is very large. In many areas of the country, fallen trees and branches still lie on the roads, and some sections of the roads are difficult or impossible to pass.

In some places, trees fell on the roads every few dozen meters. This seriously complicates the work of emergency services: to reach people in need of assistance, rescuers first have to clear the roadway.

If a fallen tree or branch does not threaten the life and health of people and does not block traffic, rescuers recommend reporting it to the relevant municipality, as municipal services are also involved in eliminating the consequences of the storm.

Reports of power outages that do not pose an immediate threat to people should be directed to the company Sadales tīkls. The emergency number 112 should be called if there is a threat to life or health, a fire has occurred, a road is blocked, or assistance from emergency services is required.
![storm2.jpg](https://bb.lv/storage/upload/storm2.jpg)

![storm3.jpg](https://bb.lv/storage/upload/storm3.jpg)

As of 7:00 on Sunday, the most reports of the storm’s consequences came from Riga — 498, and…

[91
169,168
post-150837","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-riga","tag-latvia","tag-riga
["GET
