Part of the reason for that is the excellent rogues’ gallery that director Tim Burton cooked up (and Max Shreck) for the film. Mostly, it has to do with Keaton himself and, more importantly, the film’s timeless Batmobile. You know, the one getting a new Lego set.

Batman Returns, again

No, not that one. This one. Seven years later, Lego has returned to Burton’s Batman universe to, again, celebrate the Dark Knight’s iconic Batmobile. And, oddly enough, the Batmissile. The new set, which contains fewer pieces than its 2019 counterpart, is technically two builds in one, seeing as the sides detach to become the slicker getaway vehicle. Who are we kidding? You’re just going to build the Batmobile and stick it on a shelf.

It is quite the looker. Even with only 2,269 pieces (more than 1,000 fewer than the 2019 set), it’ll still provide at least a couple of hours of fun. That also means it won’t be cheap — with the set’s US listing touting a $230 price. That comes to roughly R3,680 — which will likely be damn close to the official South African pricing at GYBC.

Read More: This totally-not-Lego brick set resurrects the original Xbox

Arguably even cooler than the Batmobile is the set’s lone minifig — Batman himself. He’s sporting the shoulder cape style that makes for one of the better live-action adaptations we’ve seen, and easily the best in the Lego world. We could take or leave the little plaque reading Batman Returns that’s tied to the figure, though.

The set is currently on track to release on 4 September this year in the States — three days earlier if you’re a Lego Insider. It won’t be here quite that soon, but Lego’s official distributor rarely falls behind the times. Expect a full release sometime in September, with a price that closely matches the Dollar figure.

Batman Returns is one of those Batman films you just can’t hate.
