The defence spokesperson said the induction of INS Nipun represented a significant enhancement in Indian Navy\u2019s deep-sea diving, underwater intervention, and submarine rescue capabilities.The ship was equipped with state-of-the-art dive equipment and had the capability to undertake deep-sea saturation diving. A side diving stage was also provided for undertaking diving operations. \u201cThe Remotely Operated Vehicles further enhance the ship\u2019s operational capabilities by facilitating diver monitoring and salvage operations,\u201d the official said.The official said the ship would also serve as the mother ship for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV) to evacuate personnel in case of an emergency in a submarine.
