Mackerel Season Gets Underway<\/p>\n
The mackerel season has begun for the Faroese fleet, but fishing has so far been described as limited.<\/p>\n
Finnur Fr\u00ed\u00f0i and Borgarin are currently fishing for mackerel in international waters north of the Faroe Islands, where several Greenlandic, Icelandic and Russian vessels are also operating.<\/p>\n
Christian \u00ed Gr\u00f3tinum is fishing in Faroese waters, while Jupiter left Klaksv\u00edk today and has headed towards the mackerel grounds.<\/p>\n
Despite a growing number of vessels joining the fishery, several Faroese pelagic vessels remain alongside or in port.<\/p>\n
G\u00f8tunes is currently in dry dock at Sk\u00e1la, while H\u00f8gaberg is in Fuglafj\u00f8r\u00f0ur. Hoyv\u00edk, Birita and Fagraberg are alongside in Kollafj\u00f8r\u00f0ur, while Arctic Voyager is at Hulki.<\/p>\n
Nor\u00f0borg and Tummas T are in T\u00f3rshavn, while Vestmenningur remains in Vestmanna.<\/p>\n
The pelagic vessel Katrin J\u00f3hanna is in Mi\u00f0v\u00e1gur.<\/p>\n

\nNor\u00f0ingur Heads Home to Land Catch<\/p>\n
Nor\u00f0ingur has also been fishing for mackerel in international waters but has now set course for the Faroe Islands to land its catch.<\/p>\n
The early reports suggest that the start of the fishery has been relatively subdued, despite vessels from several countries concentrating on the mackerel grounds north of the Faroe Islands.<\/p>\n
