{"id":152257,"date":"2026-08-25T14:07:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T14:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/152257\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T14:07:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T14:07:16","slug":"amsterdam-rally-honors-1988-massacre-victims-calls-for-end-to-executions-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/152257\/","title":{"rendered":"Amsterdam Rally Honors 1988 Massacre Victims, Calls for End to Executions in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amsterdam, Netherlands \u2013 August 19, 2025 \u2014 Supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<a class=\"reset interactable cursor-pointer decoration-1 underline-offset-1 text-super-primary hover:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/about-iranian-opposition-pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">PMOI\/MEK<\/a>) gathered at Dam Square in Amsterdam to commemorate the victims of the <a class=\"reset interactable cursor-pointer decoration-1 underline-offset-1 text-super-primary hover:underline\" href=\"https:\/\/iran1988.org\/1988-massacre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">1988 massacre<\/a>, when more than 30,000 political prisoners were executed in the summer of 1988 following orders by Ruhollah Khomeini. Photographs of the victims were displayed alongside documentation of the killings of protesters in Iran\u2019s uprisings, including executed protesters arrested during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/statement-human-rights\/pmoi-more-than-3000-dead-in-irans-nationwide-uprising-as-of-january-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">January 2026 uprising<\/a> and political prisoners, including <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/peoples-mojahedin-pmoi-mek-iran\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MEK<\/a> members executed this year.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators condemned the Iranian regime\u2019s use of executions as a tool of repression. They called for an end to state violence, regime change, and the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran.\u00a0They also demanded the immediate abolition of the death penalty and the release of all political prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>Participants laid flowers at the images of the martyrs of the Iranian people\u2019s democratic revolution. They paid tribute to the victims of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/story-of-1988-massacre-in-iran\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">1988 massacre<\/a>, political prisoners, and protesters arrested in the ongoing uprising.<\/p>\n<p>They pledged to continue the struggle for freedom and the establishment of a democratic republic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-89832\" src=\"https:\/\/iranfreedom.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Amsterdam-Aug-22-pic-07.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" onerror=\"this.src=\" https:=\"\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Participants expressed solidarity with political prisoners.
