The prime minister of Denmark has slammed a plastic surgeon who \u2013 apparently randomly and without invitation \u2013 suggested the leader \u201cget that spot on your nose fixed\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mette Frederiksen has served as PM of Denmark since 2019. She is well used to the international stage and has regularly clashed with US President Donald Trump who has threatened the Danish territory of Greenland. <\/p>\n
In an Instagram post, Ms Frederiksen that when she had returned from war torn Ukraine, she received a message from an unknown plastic surgeon she didn\u2019t take kindly too.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you want to get that little spot on your nose fixed?\u201d the screenshot of a reported message to the PM said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe last thing I heard as we left Kyiv yesterday was the air siren,\u201d Ms Frederiksen, 41, wrote on Monday, Denmark time. <\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the first messages I got when I was back in Denmark was this one. <\/p>\n
\u201cCome on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Frederiksen said she had long been bombarded with comments on her looks.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t count how many messages I\u2019ve received over time about my appearance.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially that I have ugly teeth and thin hair. The fact that I have an ugly \u2018wart\u2019 on my nose and good advice on getting Botox.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m fine with my body. Such as it is, when you are a woman approaching 50.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Frederiksen said the comments elicited \u201ca little old fashioned outrage\u201d from her.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re going to write to me (and you\u2019re more than welcome to), I hope you\u2019ll use your time to talk about something more meaningful. Not my nose\u201d.<\/p>\n
She said it was a \u201cno thanks\u201d to the plastic surgeon\u2019s offer and rather she would be celebrating everyone with \u201cperfect imperfections\u201d. <\/p>\n
Ms Frederiksen received almost 3000 responses to her post. <\/p>\n
\u201cShouldn\u2019t we stop reviving the trend of shaming women\u2019s bodies?\u201d said one. <\/p>\n
\u201cI wonder if a man would have been asked the same question,\u201d was one comment.<\/p>\n
