Christmas<\/a> must be coming, as Lego<\/a> has unveiled its big new Star Wars<\/a> set for this autumn and it\u2019s a colossal recreation of Darth\u2019s Vader personal Star Destroyer.<\/p>\n For some fans the problem with Lego is not that it\u2019s expensive \u2013 because it\u2019s hard to argue you don\u2019t get your money\u2019s worth \u2013 but where to put it all. It\u2019s obvious that Lego spends a lot of time thinking about how sets aimed at adults can be displayed conveniently on a shelf or desk, but sometimes the subject matter demands you go extra large.<\/p>\n According to Star Wars canon, a Super Star Destroyer is meant to be almost 12 miles long, dwarfing even the regular sized Star Destroyers, so to make this new Ultimate Collector Series version Lego has used 6,130 bricks and ended up with a model that\u2019s 1.36 meters long, 50cm wide, and 20cm high.<\/p>\n While it\u2019s not the overall biggest Lego set (that accolade belongs to the recent Sagrada Fam\u00edlia<\/a> church) it is officially the longest there\u2019s ever been, beating Harry Potter<\/a>\u2019s Diagon Alley<\/a> and, before that, the Ultimate Collectors Series version of the regular Star Destroyer<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Super Star Destroyer first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, as the Executor \u2013 the personal flagship of Darth Vader. It also featured in Return of the Jedi, when (spoilers) it ended up crashing into the second Death Star.<\/p>\n To emphasise the scale of the ship, the set also includes a to-scale Star Destroyer and a tiny 1\u00d71 round tile to represent the Millenium Falcon, which almost got caught in its tractor beams at the end of The Empire Strikes Back.<\/p>\n The detailed \u2018greebling\u2019 of the central body of the shop also includes unique printed tiles meant to recreate the lights visible on the superstructure, to add that extra bit of authenticity.<\/p>\n \t\t Also included is a separate recreation of part of the Executor\u2019s bridge, where Darth Vader tasked a group of bounty hunters with tracking down the Millenium Falcon, so you get the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, as well as Boba Fett, Dengar (with a new backpack build), Bossk, IG-88 (with a new moulded head), 4-LOM, and Zuckuss.<\/p>\n As you would imagine, none of this comes cheap and the UK price is \u00a3649.99 from Lego stores and the Lego website<\/a>. Officially it\u2019ll be available from October 4, but if you\u2019re a Lego Insider (which requires only a free sign-up<\/a>) you can buy it from October 1.<\/p>\n There\u2019s an extra incentive to do that, as if you buy it between October 1 and 10 you get a free gift with purchase that isn\u2019t available anywhere else: a recreation of Darth Vader\u2019s Lightsaber hilt.
