In Tallinn, a new T6 tram route will begin operating on September 1, connecting Kopli and Suur-Paala. On the same day, the city\u2019s public transport will switch to its autumn-winter schedule with more frequent services, ERR News reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Schedule changes<\/p>\n

The schedule updates will also affect buses and trolleybuses. The changes are being introduced on the day the new school year begins. City authorities advise parents to check their child\u2019s route to school and the relevant transport connections in advance.<\/p>\n

Tallinn City Council recommended that, if possible, parents travel with their child by public transport along the route to school before September 1. This should help them become familiar with the route, stops and possible transfers. They are also advised to check the new schedules before the first school day, as the usual route or departure time may have changed.<\/p>\n

Call to take traffic congestion into account<\/p>\n

Tallinn Deputy Mayor Joel Jesse urged all road users to allow more time for journeys during the first weeks of September. According to him, the start of the school year noticeably changes the city\u2019s transport situation: there are more cars, public transport passengers and children learning to travel to school independently on the streets.<\/p>\n

Several construction projects will also continue in the Estonian capital in autumn, which are expected to cause traffic congestion. Current schedules, routes and stops are available on the city transport portal.<\/p>\n
