{"id":155843,"date":"2026-08-30T16:45:31","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T16:45:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/155843\/"},"modified":"2026-08-30T16:45:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T16:45:31","slug":"strong-winds-force-cancellation-of-jersey-ferry-sailings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/155843\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong winds force cancellation of Jersey ferry sailings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2 wp-block-paragraph\">FERRY passengers travelling over the bank-holiday weekend are facing disruption after strong winds forced DFDS to cancel a number of sailings to and from Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">Services between the Island and both St Malo and Poole have been cancelled today and tomorrow, with additional crossings being laid on on Tuesday to help affected passengers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">The disruption comes as Jersey Met forecasts strengthening south-westerly winds, reaching force six to seven for a time overnight, with seas becoming rather rough to rough.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4 wp-block-paragraph\">DFDS said the following sailings had been cancelled because of the adverse weather:<\/p>\n<p>Sunday 30 August: St Malo\u2013Jersey at 6pm and Jersey\u2013St Malo at 7.55pm.<\/p>\n<p>Monday 31 August: St Malo\u2013Jersey at 7.15am, Jersey\u2013St Malo at 9.10am, Poole\u2013Jersey at 1.30pm and Jersey\u2013Poole at 7pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">The ferry operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1DHH9MxCe2\/?mibextid=wwXIfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said all affected customers would be notified.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">To help minimise disruption, four additional services have been scheduled for Tuesday 1 September: St Malo\u2013Jersey at 6.30am, Jersey\u2013St Malo at 8.25am, Poole\u2013Jersey at 8am and Jersey\u2013Poole at 1.30pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">DFDS apologised to passengers for the inconvenience and advised anyone wishing to discuss alternative travel arrangements to contact its customer-care team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3 wp-block-paragraph\">The disruption coincides with a yellow tide warning issued for Jersey this evening, with strong winds expected to bring waves and sea spray over sea walls along parts of the south coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2 wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jerseyeveningpost.com\/news\/2026\/08\/30\/warning-issued-as-strong-winds-and-high-tide-set-to-hit-jersey-coast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">READ MORE: Warning issued as strong winds and high tide set to hit Jersey coast<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\tRelated<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FERRY passengers travelling over the bank-holiday weekend are facing disruption after strong winds forced DFDS to cancel a&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":155844,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[6052],"tags":[6057,1646],"class_list":["post-155843","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dfds","tag-dfds","tag-weather"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@dk\/117185473824891116","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155843","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=155843"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/155843\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/155844"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=155843"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=155843"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=155843"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
