King Frederik X\u00a0traded the palace for a glimpse into the future on Tuesday as he opened the Space for Inspiration conference in Copenhagen.<\/p>\n

The Danish monarch arrived at the Bella Center on September 1 to officially launch the two-day gathering, which brings together companies, scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and space agencies from across Europe and beyond.<\/p>\n

Their inclusion placed homegrown innovation at the center of an event designed to connect scientific research with real-world commercial opportunities.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s conference is centered on the theme \u201cScaling Research and Production in Space.\u201d Its program focuses on four key areas: health and life sciences, advanced materials and manufacturing in space, agri-food innovation and lunar construction.<\/p>\n

Some of the research could eventually influence the development of medicines, sustainable food systems and new building materials. Other discussions look even further ahead, examining how resources found on the Moon could be used to create infrastructure for future missions.<\/p>\n

The outing also reflected the broader direction of his reign. Since succeeding his mother, Queen Margrethe, Frederik has combined royal tradition with engagements concerning technology, sustainability and international cooperation.<\/p>\n
