As reported by Inita Kabanova, head of the public relations and marketing department at R\u012bgas namu p\u0101rvaldnieks, an additional verification has been introduced to enhance the security of clients’ personal data.<\/p>\n
Two-factor authentication helps protect information, especially in situations where a user’s password may have been compromised. Even if someone knows the password, accessing the account without an additional code from an SMS will be impossible.<\/p>\n
In the near future, RNP plans to provide another method for secure authorization \u2014 using **Smart-ID**.<\/p>\n
## Some Will Need to Confirm Their Phone Number<\/p>\n
Clients whose phone numbers were not previously verified in the portal will need to confirm their number upon first use of two-factor authentication.<\/p>\n
At this stage, users will also be able to correct any previously entered incorrect phone numbers or add a number if it was not previously entered into the system.<\/p>\n
For subsequent logins after entering the password, clients will receive a six-digit code via SMS, which must be provided to complete the authorization.<\/p>\n
## The Mobile App Will Continue to Function as Before<\/p>\n
The changes do not affect the **RNP** mobile app \u2014 clients can continue to use it as before. All main functions of the client portal are available in the app.<\/p>\n
Through the portal and mobile app, residents can pay bills, submit meter readings, and request necessary work to be done in their homes.<\/p>\n
They can also add tenants, obtain information about the financial status of their building, review details about completed and planned repairs, and receive other information related to building management.<\/p>\n
R\u012bgas namu p\u0101rvaldnieks is fully owned by the Riga municipality.
