WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Girls soccer teams across the region were in action Thursday night, including the Tug Hill Classic and the John Jeffers Tournament.<\/p>\n
Watertown and Pulaski met in the Tug Hill Classic. Alexandra Knapp scored less than a minute into the game to put Watertown ahead 1-0. Twenty-four seconds later, Olivia Macutek assisted Ella Bowman for a goal, making it 2-0 Watertown. Bowman scored again later in the game to extend Watertown\u2019s lead to 3-0. Lila Adams scored on a second-chance opportunity, increasing the lead to 4-0. Aliza Overton scored on a penalty kick. Watertown defeated Pulaski 12-0.<\/p>\n
In the late game, host Copenhagen met General Brown. Stella Wright scored first, putting Copenhagen ahead 1-0. Wright scored again later for her second goal of the game, making it 2-0 Copenhagen. Late in the first half, Mollie Babcock scored to make it 3-0 Copenhagen. Just before halftime, Julia Cooper scored to make it 4-0. Copenhagen defeated General Brown 6-0.<\/p>\n
In a John Jeffers Tournament semifinal, Peyton Wood scored two first-half goals to give Gouverneur a 2-0 lead. Addison Trakowski lifted a shot over the Salmon River goaltender to extend Gouverneur\u2019s lead to 3-0. Arianna Wood recorded two saves for Gouverneur. Yutne\u2019ki:saks Thompson made 16 saves for Salmon River. Gouverneur defeated Salmon River 3-0.<\/p>\n
In the other John Jeffers Tournament semifinal, host Potsdam met Canton. The first half ended scoreless. Gigi Sergi scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Mary Sergi, giving Canton a 1-0 win over Potsdam. Ella Bradish-Hayes recorded eight saves in the win for Canton. Jillian Pitts made nine saves for Potsdam.<\/p>\n
