{"id":160052,"date":"2026-09-05T09:48:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T09:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/160052\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T09:48:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T09:48:11","slug":"strategic-airport-in-greenland-to-remain-operational-for-another-year-todaypress-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/160052\/","title":{"rendered":"Strategic airport in Greenland to remain operational for another year \u2014 TodayPress.tv"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify; \">Narsarsuaq Airport in southern Greenland will remain open for another year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; \"><a href=\"https:\/\/todaypress.tv\/az\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); white-space: pre-wrap; font-weight: 600;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TodayPress TV<\/a>\u00a0reports, citing Ritzau, that the Greenlandic government and Denmark\u2019s Ministry of Defence have agreed to continue using the airport to determine the long-term needs of NATO and the Danish Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; \">According to Danish Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus, during this period, the Greenlandic government and parliament, together with allies, will be able to assess the future need for military use of Narsarsuaq Airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; \">As part of the agreement, Denmark\u2019s Ministry of Defence will provide the Greenlandic government with a subsidy of 45 million kroner (approximately $7 million).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; \">It should be noted that Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark. The US-owned Pituffik Space Base is also located on the island.
