A Glen Parva resident is preparing to take on the Amsterdam Marathon in October to support mental health charity CALM. Graham Hall will join 32,000 other runners for the major sporting event on Sunday, October 18.<\/p>\n
Having experienced mental health struggles in recent years, Graham hopes to raise \u00a31,000 for the Campaign Against Living Miserably. He said: \u201cI am hoping to raise \u00a31,000 for the charity, and people have until mid-January to donate.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI am about three quarters of the way to reaching my total \u2013 so we just need a bit more to get over the finish line.\u00a0This is an anti-suicide charity providing helpline support and many other resources aimed at prevention of suicide. \u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI strongly believe in the work of this charity having suffered with my own mental health over the years.\u00a0I also possess experience of the effects of depression, anxiety and substance misuse \u2013 often leading to suicide or attempts to do have on family and friends. Every step I take will be dedicated to those who struggle in silence and need our help.\u201d<\/p>\n
