Last year we went to Stockholm, Sweden for the first time as part of our 32 days in Europe. We only had a few days in Stockholm, however, we wanted to make the most of it so we created a packed itinerary. We got a Go City Pass for our visit so we could save money on our attractions tickets and see everything we wanted to without breaking the bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’re planning a trip to Stockholm and are looking for some activities to immerse yourself with the culture and learn about the history, then you’ll want to take a look at everything we did during our 48 hours. Yes, it was a lot, but well worth the time. We felt like we were really able to see the city and enjoy the beautiful scenery and waterways along the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As theme park aficionados, we had no choice but to visit Gr\u00f6na Lund. We went during Halloween season so the park was decorated to the nines and there was a bunch of atmospheric entertainment. If you’re a fan of thrill rides, then you’ll love Twister and Eclipse. In the mood for some laughs? Head into Fun House which is an attraction with gags and illusions. While you’re at the amusement park, you’ll want to be sure to say hello to the Gnuttarna which are Swedish comic book characters. This park is definitely geared more towards kids and teens, however, there’s fun to be had for people of all ages.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A trip to Stockholm is not complete without visiting The Royal Palace. Located in Gamla Stan, this is the royal palace of the Swedish monarch and you can go inside and look at the different state rooms and royal apartments. Aside from that, you’ll find royal crowns and regalia alongside ceremonial spaces. We actually happened to be outside of The Royal Palace during the changing of the guard ceremony which was very neat. This definitely draws out a crowd so you’ll\u00a0 need to get there early if you want to have an unobstructed view without cameras everywhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We love to visit a good museum when we travel and The Vasa Museum was one of two we went to while in Stockholm. The museum is centered around the Vasa (a Swedish warship) that sank on its maiden voyage in the early 1600s. The main attraction at this museum is the Vasa ship itself, however, there are other exhibitions and sculptures here alongside a short film about the construction of the ship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

You probably know of people who have been awarded with a Nobel Peace Prize such as Barack Obama and Mother Teresa. This museum was close to The Royal Palace in Galma Stan and was a great rainy day activity. Our favorite exhibit was the “these things changed the world” which highlighted inventions made by people that made the world a better and more productive place. We also appreciated the audio guide that helped us learn more about the displays aside from the plaques which were posted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our last stop during our visit to Sweden was the Stockholm Toy Museum. Although we are adults, we are children at heart and love toys. We were most fascinated by the vintage Disney toys and memorabilia they had aon display. There were also interactive displays for kids and an exhibit about dolls which was unlike anything else we’ve ever seen. This wasn’t included in our Go City Pass, but tickets weren’t too pricey so we purchased them ourselves. We recommend going later in the day so you can have just about the entire museum to yourself like we did.\u00a0<\/p>\n
