will regain direct connections with three major northern European tourism markets this autumn, as TUI Nordic expands its operations to the Canary Island.

The tour operator will offer flights from Copenhagen in Denmark, Stockholm in Sweden and Oslo in Norway from October 23rd, according to the Fuerteventura Cabildo.

TUI Nordic returned to Fuerteventura in April 2026 after a seven-year absence, and the new connections will further increase the number of Scandinavian tourists able to visit the island.

Weekly flights from Stockholm

TUI Nordic will operate a weekly flight from Stockholm every Friday, while additional special flights from Copenhagen and Oslo are planned to coincide with school holiday periods in Denmark and Norway.

Tourism officials see the three Nordic countries as strategically important markets as Fuerteventura looks to diversify its visitor profile and attract tourists with higher spending power.

The new routes will also give Scandinavian holidaymakers more options for reaching the island directly during the important autumn and winter tourism season.

Fuerteventura targets higher-spending tourists

The announcement follows a tourism promotion campaign in Scandinavia this week, with Fuerteventura presenting its holiday offering to specialist travel agents in Copenhagen on September 2nd and Stockholm on September 3rd.

The Fuerteventura Tourism Board was joined at the events by representatives from Coral Hotels, Elba Hotels and Meliá Hotels, who presented their accommodation and services directly to tourism professionals.

In Stockholm, senior representatives from TUI Nordic’s Swedish commercial, sales, marketing and product teams also took part.

One of the reasons Fuerteventura is particularly interested in strengthening its Nordic market is the amount Scandinavian tourists spend while visiting the islands.

In 2025, Swedish tourists spent an average of €1,547 per person, equivalent to €166 per day, with an average stay of 9.3 nights.

Danish visitors recorded the same average total spend of €1,547 per person in 2026, but with a higher average daily expenditure of €193.

Nordic market a priority for Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura’s Tourism Councillor, Marlene Figueroa, said the promotional events in Denmark and Sweden confirmed that the Nordic market remains a priority for the island.

She said the aim is to consolidate a higher-value visitor market that contributes towards a more balanced and sustainable tourism model.

According to Figueroa, the expanded TUI Nordic operation will give Fuerteventura greater access to tourists who particularly value the island’s natural environment, quality and tourism offering.

The return of the Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo connections will further strengthen Fuerteventura’s international air links ahead of the winter season, traditionally one of the most important periods of the year for tourism in the Canary Islands.

            <a
