{"id":160790,"date":"2026-09-07T00:44:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T00:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/160790\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T00:44:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T00:44:09","slug":"denmarks-former-queen-margrethe-hospitalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/160790\/","title":{"rendered":"Denmark&#8217;s former queen Margrethe hospitalized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Denmark&#8217;s former queen Margrethe II has been hospitalized, the royal house said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Danish news agency Ritzau reported that Margrethe was suffering from a blood clot in the hip area and mild dehydration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Margrethe will remain in Copenhagen&#8217;s Rigshospitalet university hospital for observation and to undergo further examinations, according to a statement from the palace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She will therefore miss the state funeral for Norwegian King Harald V in Oslo on Wednesday, the palace said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The queen was in good spirits and doing well given the circumstances, it added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 86-year-old was admitted to hospital in May with angina pectoris &#8211; chest pain caused by a disruption in the blood supply to the heart. She had to undergo a procedure to widen her blood vessels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Later that same month, she was admitted for treatment after a CT scan revealed significant bleeding in the hip area after a fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Margrethe unexpectedly abdicated in 2024 and, after 52 years as Denmark&#8217;s head of state, handed the throne over to her son, King Frederik X.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Denmark&#8217;s former queen Margrethe II has been hospitalized, the royal house said on Sunday.
