{"id":161855,"date":"2026-09-08T08:02:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T08:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/161855\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T08:02:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T08:02:13","slug":"eu-strengthens-partnership-with-greenland-with-322-million-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/161855\/","title":{"rendered":"EU strengthens partnership with Greenland with $322 million investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/index_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">European Commission<\/a> Ursula von der Leyen has announced \u20ac200 million ($322.62 million) in funding under the Global Gateway Partnership Package, to be invested into Greenland by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>This new funding comes as the European Union (EU), Greenland, and Denmark have signaled a strengthened partnership under a new <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/STATEMENT_26_1804\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Joint Declaration<\/a> signed by von der Leyen, the Premier of Greenland Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen. <\/p>\n<p>It also stands alongside renewed threats of a takeover of Greenland from US President Donald Trump, who has been making claims on the territory since he took office for his second term in 2025. <\/p>\n<p>The investment package and Joint Declaration both focus on deepening cooperation between the EU and Greenland across a range of industries, including critical raw materials, power and infrastructure, and education and fisheries. <\/p>\n<p>The Joint Declaration itself is focused on Greenland\u2019s growing strategic importance, especially in the critical raw materials space.
