The dates all involve cities thousands of miles apart, but each experienced similar tragedies and is coming together to heal, bond, and remember.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;New York City stood with us in our darkest hour, and we stood with them, and we continue to stand with them,&#8221; President and CEO of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum Kari Watkins said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It&#8217;s an unbreakable bond between the two cities that are around 1,500 miles apart. Two hours later, he opened fire at a workers&#8217; youth league summer camp and killed 69 people while injuring dozens more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The Oklahoma Memorial Museum with Kari and also the 9\/11 Memorial Museum were coming to Norway and helping us with building the memorial,&#8221; Fahre said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fahre is joining Watkins in New York City this week for 9\/11 commemoration services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;On September 11th, we were greatly impacted here,&#8221; Watkins said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An exhibit at the memorial museum shows the ties you may not realize. <a data-ylk=\"slk:Six Oklahomans;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/memorialmuseum.com\/artifact\/oklahomans-killed-on-9-11\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Six Oklahomans<\/a> died in the 9\/11 attacks, and nine NYC first responders who helped in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing were later killed in the 9\/11 attacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;That&#8217;s really what we&#8217;re trying to do, to understand and to prevent new attacks and also to work together so we not lose hope in humanity,&#8221; Fahre said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Separate tragedies, but similar stories documented in the archives of history to learn and never forget.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
