Amsterdam Police arrested a man in connection with a stabbing.<\/p>\n
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT) \u2013 An Amsterdam man has been charged in a stabbing from last July.<\/p>\n
Amsterdam Police said officers responded to the area of Elizabeth Street on July 20 for a report of a stabbing. The victim had stab wounds in the stomach, according to investigators. He was treated on scene and taken to Albany Medical Center.<\/p>\n
Amsterdam Police, State Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office interviewed witnesses in the neighborhood and reviewed security camera footage near the incident.<\/p>\n
The investigation led to the arrest of 47-year-old Erick Vazquez-Sifontes last week.<\/p>\n
Vazquez-Sifontes was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. \u00a0<\/p>\n
He was arraigned in Amsterdam City Council and sent to Montgomery County Jail with bail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.<\/p>\n
