(WITN) &#8211; Some Warsaw residents had their water temporarily shut off Monday despite having paid their bills, prompting complaints about how the town handled the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Stacey Graham, a Warsaw resident, said her water was cut off even though her bill was paid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think they should forget about the next bill altogether with the mishap that they caused yesterday,\u201d Graham said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Warsaw Finance Officer Beth James was unwilling to comment Tuesday. However, Commissioner Ebony Wills-Wells said James told her Monday that it was a system issue related to Presidents\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe know that the banks were closed yesterday. However, it is very unacceptable and given that it was an error on our part, no citizens should be penalized because of the repercussions of our mistakes,\u201d Wills-Wells said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Wills-Wells said she paid her water bill at 6 a.m. Monday, and her water was not shut off. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">But Maya King, another resident, said her water was shut off even though she paid her bill over the weekend, and the money was taken from her account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe banks are closed, but let\u2019s put it like this, the online payment portal was not,\u201d King said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">King said her water was shut off for six hours and had not heard from the town about whether her next bill will be lowered due to the inconvenience. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Graham said the town should do something to address the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re here because we have the right to be and live here. We just want to be treated fairly and equally. For some reason, that\u2019s not happening in the Town of Warsaw,\u201d Graham said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Public Works Director Craig Armstrong said his schedule was too busy for discussion.
