The Berlinale is not an NGO with a camera and directors,” Weimer said.

Gaza has frequently been a topic of controversy at the Berlinale in recent years.

In 2024, the festival’s documentary award went to “No Other Land”, which follows the dispossession of Palestinian communities in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

German government officials criticised “one-sided” remarks about Gaza by the directors of that film and others at that year’s awards ceremony.

pyv-jsk/jhb

The director of the Berlin Film Festival on Wednesday rejected accusations from more than 80 film industry figures…

[99
12781,112,3146,2246,190,3126,12010,12782,12008,4653,8039
0":"post-17936","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-berlin","8":"tag-actions-in-gaza","9":"tag-berlin","10":"tag-berlin-film-festival","11":"tag-gaza","12":"tag-germany","13":"tag-israel","14":"tag-javier-bardem","15":"tag-screen-daily","16":"tag-tilda-swinton","17":"tag-tricia-tuttle","18":"tag-wolfram-weimer
["GET
