On its earnings call, management acknowledged that both DSV\u2019s own forwarding system and WiseTech\u2019s CargoWise remained in use across the enlarged organisation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With regard to Tango and WiseTech, DSV will keep \u201cTango running in certain areas; we\u2019ll have to make a choice which platform to go to,\u201d said CEO Jens Lund in an earnings call today. \u201cAnd, you know, it\u2019s very likely that we will, over time, gravitate towards our own solution.\u201d<\/p>\n
The remarks come at a time when large freight forwarders are reassessing the degree of control they\u00a0retain\u00a0over core operating systems, as transport management platforms increasingly shape commercial models, data\u00a0ownership\u00a0and long-term automation strategies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
DSV added that it was not treating the platforms as isolated systems, but is using a broader architecture to ensure operational continuity during the transition period.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also have a data platform behind the platforms, so we can keep it in sync,\u201d said\u00a0Mr\u00a0Lund.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The approach\u00a0suggests\u00a0DSV is\u00a0prioritising\u00a0flexibility during the transition, allowing data,\u00a0analytics\u00a0and automation layers to\u00a0operate\u00a0independently of individual execution systems as the group works through integration.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the group did not provide a timeline for a final decision, it suggested the longer-term direction of travel would be towards a single operating platform, and that DSV\u2019s preference would be to use its own technology \u2013 which would be something of a financial blow to WiseTech Global, no doubt.<\/p>\n
The comments come as DSV continues to push a broader narrative around operational integration, productivity and\u00a0digitalisation\u00a0across a group that has expanded significantly through acquisitions. In its annual report, DSV highlighted the scale of its IT consolidation work, noting that it has \u201cconsolidated more than 40 acquired data\u00a0centres\u00a0into three DSV-operated data\u00a0centres\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It added that the\u00a0rationalisation\u00a0programme\u00a0had also removed complexity from its application landscape, saying it had \u201cclosed more than 5,000 applications\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That consolidation\u00a0suggests\u00a0an approach that may\u00a0jettison\u00a0the\u00a0parallel operation of multiple core forwarding platforms\u00a0in the long-term.\u00a0<\/p>\n
DSV\u2019s report also outlined how it is developing a broader data foundation, describing its shift towards an \u201cEnterprise Data Platform\u201d designed to support greater automation and analytics across operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alongside this, the group said it has built an internal \u201cAI Factory\u201d as part of its wider digital agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The annual report also referenced specific AI-enabled initiatives, including \u201cCustoms AI\u201d,\u00a0and efforts to drive \u201cbooking\u00a0digitalisation\u201d as DSV looks to streamline workflows and improve the customer experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For now, DSV retains its key transport management systems by division, with \u2018Tango\u2019 for Air & Sea and \u2018Star\u2019 for Road. But the scale and complexity of the integration appears to be sharpening the focus on its freight technology choices.\u00a0<\/p>\n
