But rather than sequins, the sparkles came from their historic jewels. KELD NAVNTOFT &#8211; Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>For the special occasion, the Australian-born queen wore her Diamond Bandeau Tiara, which she had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/society\/tradition\/a63093381\/queen-mary-denmark-rosenstone-necklace-tiara-video\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:fashioned from an old diamond necklace;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">fashioned from an old diamond necklace<\/a> sourced from the Danish Crown Jewels at Rosenborg Castle in 2024. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/society\/tradition\/a63093381\/queen-mary-denmark-rosenstone-necklace-tiara-video\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Royal House of Denmark;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Royal House of Denmark<\/a>, \u201cthe rose stone set was created in 1840 as a chain that is mounted around a corseted waist with the large pendant, the corsage, in the middle. The pendant can be divided and used separately as independent brooches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rose-cut Diamond Parure first belonged to Princess Charlotte Amalie, a sister of King Christian VI. Per <a href=\"https:\/\/royalwatcherblog.com\/2024\/12\/08\/danish-diamond-bandeau\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Royal Watcher;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">the Royal Watcher<\/a>, after World War II, \u201cQueen Ingrid wore the Diamond Girdle as a Necklace on a couple of occasions with the Danish Emerald Parure, while Queen Margrethe only wore the Diamond Corsage, for her 50th Birthday in 1990 and the Norwegian State Visit in 1991.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Queen Mary also stepped out in support of Danish designers, wearing a champagne-hued ensemble comprised of a lace top from Copenhagen-based designer Lasse Spangenberg with a flowing skirt by Jesper H\u00f8vring.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"King Frederik X And Queen Mary Host New Year's Day Celebrations\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/0360aca35f5fe27efd983c8ba96d1234.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Queen Margrethe wears the Nassut Tiara, a gift from Greenland for her Golden Jubilee in 2012.
