Here are 10 highlights you won&#8217;t want to miss.<\/p>\n<p>Among the flurry of things on show across the city this week between 3 and 7 February is a pop-up listening lounge, a collection of prison furniture prototypes and a multi-brand exhibition in an old canon factory.<\/p>\n<p>The grassroots programme was designed to fill the hole left by\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/stockholm-furniture-fair\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stockholm Furniture Fair<\/a> and its associated design week, which were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/10\/03\/stockholm-furniture-fair-cancels-2026-event-relaunch-biennial\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">postponed until 2027 and will now run in a biennial format<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Even though there is no proper Stockholm Design Week and people, including myself, have been so confused and negative, I must say I&#8217;m really impressed,&#8221; Nordiska Galleriet&#8217;s Hanna Nova Beatrice\u00a0told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are so many activations and it&#8217;s really brand-led,&#8221; she added. &#8220;They&#8217;ve gone out of their way more than they usually do, because there&#8217;s no fair.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/10\/03\/stockholm-furniture-fair-cancels-2026-event-relaunch-biennial\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" biennial\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The week-long event is rather confusingly branded, with more than 100 studios and manufacturers exhibiting under the umbrella of <a href=\"https:\/\/designdayscampfire.com\/digitalshowroom\/#\/gallery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stockholm Design Days<\/a>, while emerging and independent designers are largely showing as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/eventsguide\/2026\/02\/stockholm-creative-edition-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stockholm Creative Edition<\/a> after the festival was moved forward from its usual time in May.<\/p>\n<p>But we&#8217;ve weeded through the whole programme and broken down 10 of the most interesting things you&#8217;ll want to see below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2291513 size-full\" Kanonverkstaden<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Echo is a new exhibition platform for Swedish design, which will debut in an old cannon factory on Skeppsholmen island this week before travelling to Copenhagen for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/3-days-of-design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">3 Days of Design<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Geared first and foremost at architects and buyers, the show will see a selection of established brands including <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.asko.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ASKO<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/bang-and-olufsen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bang &amp; Olufsen<\/a> rub shoulders with younger designers like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/fredrik-paulsen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fredrik Paulsen<\/a> of JOY Objects and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/desireapelgren\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Desir\u00e9 Apelgren<\/a>, who is presenting an asymmetrical, metal take on the classic Swedish stick back chair (above).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the Stockholm Furniture Fair on hold, we just have to do something,&#8221; said Karin Sk\u00f6ldberg, co-founder of Echo and PR agency Trendgruppen. &#8220;We do have to take care of our design history; it&#8217;s an essential part of our culture and not the least a sustainability feat to still have manufacturing in Sweden.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone Sigurd Lewerentz at FAB Gr\u00f6nlandet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of Stockholm Creative Edition, design lovers will have the rare opportunity to enter Sweden&#8217;s former National Insurance Institute \u2013 an icon of early Swedish modernism designed by Sigurd Lewerentz (above).<\/p>\n<p>Inside, buzzy local furniture company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contemfurniture.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Contem<\/a> and ceramicist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ingridunsold\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ingrid Uns\u00f6ld<\/a> are showcasing site-specific projects made using materials partly sourced from the heritage-listed building, which now serves as an office and museum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/arkdes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ArkDes<\/a> museum as part of an exhibition showing the winners of the annual <a href=\"https:\/\/svenskform.se\/en\/ung-svensk-form\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ung Svensk Form<\/a> competition.<\/p>\n<p>Standout projects include <a href=\"https:\/\/svenskform.se\/rickard-torstenfelt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas trees turned into furniture by Rickard Torstenfelt<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/svenskform.se\/alma-duran\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alma Duran&#8217;s blobby neon lights<\/a> and a series of tables from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voguescandinavia.com\/articles\/svenskt-tenn-2025-design-scholarship-exhibition\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Svenskt Tenn Design Scholarship laureate Love at Etage1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In response to the looming <a href=\"https:\/\/swedenherald.com\/article\/prison-and-probation-service-budget-to-increase-for-expansion\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expansion of Sweden&#8217;s prison system<\/a>,\u00a0industrial design students from Stockholm&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.konstfack.se\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Konstfack<\/a> school have created a series of prototype furniture to investigate\u00a0how these penitentiary spaces can be designed with empathy.<\/p>\n<p>The resulting pieces, on show at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etage1.se\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Etage1<\/a>, were created in collaboration with furniture maker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/nola\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nola<\/a> and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, which facilitated a visit for the students to one of the country&#8217;s largest prisons as part of the project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2291528 size-full\" Lounge by Exakt MFG and Superlab<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Svensk Form&#8217;s library is turning into a listening lounge this week courtesy of design studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superlab.se\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Superlab<\/a> and furniture brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/exakt.mfg\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Exakt MFG<\/a>, which is making its debut as part of Stockholm Design Days.<\/p>\n<p>Envisioned as a kind of public living room informed by Japanese listening bars, the space will be furnished using the company&#8217;s first-ever collection, made entirely in-house to maintain full control over materials, processes and quality.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2291517 size-full\" Industricentralen<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stockholm Creative Edition is taking over the city&#8217;s 1937 Industricentralen building to host its main exhibition, with a spotlight on emerging designers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/02\/04\/emerging-designers-stockholm-furniture-fair-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nils Askhagen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/showroom\/interesting-times-gang\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Interesting Times Gang<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2025\/02\/10\/matssonmarnell-one-day-exhibition-stockholm-design-week\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Matsson Marnell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In our own exhibition, we want to offer insights into how the designers of the future think,&#8221; explained founders Ulrika Kjellstr\u00f6m Attar and Philippe Attar. &#8220;It is more exploratory, more risk-taking, and shows new ways of relating to material, function and form.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will be fed via a pop-up bakery from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/frostbageri\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">H\u00e5kan Johansson Frost<\/a> \u2013 Sweden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voguescandinavia.com\/articles\/the-best-spots-to-grab-a-cinnamon-bun-in-stockholm-on-kanelbullensdag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">only world-champion baker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2291508 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/stockholm-design-week-2026_dezeen_2364_col_5-852x852.jpg\" alt=\"Beyond Design in SoFo\" width=\"2364\" height=\"2364\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sofobeyond\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beyond Design in SoFo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In S\u00f6dermalm, or &#8220;SoFo&#8221;, leading Swedish and European design brands will be opening their showrooms and studios between 3 and 5 February, culminating in a joint party on the final night.<\/p>\n<p>Under the title Beyond Design in SoFo, the event will see longtime locals like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/hem\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hem<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/vitra\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vitra<\/a>\u00a0joined by Danish exports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/hay\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/tradition\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&amp;tradition<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/fritz-hansen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fritz Hansen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/gubi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" contemporary Swedish design across materials, disciplines and generations.<\/p>\n<p>Under the theme Stay Curious, the show will take over the building&#8217;s Light Court and its display windows along Hamngatan with work from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mimmiblomqvist\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mimmi Blomquist<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/nick-ross\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Ross<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/g.winsth\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gemla<\/a> \u2013 are presenting curated exhibitions under one roof as part of a group show at The Building.<\/p>\n<p>Also on show will be works in glass, textiles, lighting and furniture from independent designers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/emiliepalleholm\/?hl=en-gb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emilie Palle Holm<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2019\/04\/23\/afropicks-simon-skinner-design-milan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Skinner<\/a>, who was last year named as <a noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Process, Material, Craft at Moderna Dansteatern<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three of Stockholm&#8217;s leading design schools are joining forces for an exhibition at the Moderna Dansteatern theatre, spotlighting standout student work around the theme of process, material and craft.<\/p>\n<p>Konstfack&#8217;s presentation Clay City will feature work made using locally sourced earth from \u00c5rsta, while <a href=\"https:\/\/liu.se\/en\/organisation\/liu\/iei\/mlu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Malmstens<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/beckmans-college-of-design\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beckmans<\/a> (above) will showcase furniture created by their graduates in collaboration with established Swedish design companies like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/kallemo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">K\u00e4llemo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/nola\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nola<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/stolab-stories\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"
