A city in Green Lake County is getting funding from the Wisconsin DNR.<\/p>\n
The City of Berlin was awarded a Brownfield Grant to assist with investigating potential contamination at the former site of a glove factory and lumber company.<\/p>\n
The half-acre property, located adjacent to the Fox River, was once the location of a woolen mill, glove factory, and lumber yard.<\/p>\n
The structures on the now-vacant property were removed in the 1970s, and the property was given to the city.<\/p>\n
Wisconsin DNR Brownfields Manager Jodie Thistle explains, \u201cThe DNR is glad to provide support for the environmental assessment necessary to get the property one step closer to reuse.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since 2009, the DNR has provided over $3.5 million to over 70 communities across Wisconsin, partnering to help clean up and redevelop often run-down or underused properties that detract from a community\u2019s potential.<\/p>\n
