{"id":31610,"date":"2026-03-03T10:34:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T10:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/31610\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T10:34:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T10:34:19","slug":"dsv-eyes-lower-freight-rates-but-port-pressures-as-red-sea-routes-resume-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/dk\/31610\/","title":{"rendered":"DSV eyes lower freight rates, but port pressures as Red Sea routes resume"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">By Louise Rasmussen<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">COPENHAGEN, Feb 4 (Reuters) &#8211; DSV, the world&#8217;s largest freight forwarder, said on Wednesday that a resumption of transit through the \u200bRed Sea should push freight rates down but could also add pressure \u200con ports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Shipping companies are weighing a return to the critical Asia-Europe trade corridor after vessels were \u200crerouted around Africa in late 2023 following attacks from Yemen&#8217;s Houthis in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;That will free up some capacity obviously if you get the transit time reduced quite a bit,&#8221; Chief Financial Officer Michael Ebbe told an investor call. \u2060He added that this would \u200cput pressure on freight rates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">&#8220;Though it remains to be seen if everybody of the carriers will start to reroute again, \u200dI think that will put some temporary pressure on some of the ports in Europe,&#8221; Ebbe added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Shipping group Maersk said on Tuesday it would resume some transit routes through \u200bthe Red Sea and the Suez Canal this month under its shared services \u200cnetwork with Hapag-Lloyd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">SCHENKER INTEGRATION SEEN FINALISED BY END 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">DSV expects global air and sea freight volumes to increase around 2% to 3% this year, in line with or slightly lower than global GDP forecasts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The company posted fourth-quarter operating profit before special items of 5.59 billion Danish crowns ($884.38 million), just below analysts&#8217; average \u2060estimate of 5.64 billion crowns in a \u200bcompany-provided poll.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">It forecast a full-year operating profit before \u200bspecial items of 23 billion to 25.5 billion crowns and proposed a dividend for 2025 of 7 crowns per share.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">DSV said it \u200dnow expected to \u2060complete the integration of German rival DB Schenker by the end of this year.
