The ninth artist in our Who Is series for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund from Denmark.<\/p>\n
S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund was born in Gudme on December 23, 1998 and grew up in the Svendborg Municipality, in Southern Denmark.<\/p>\n
He received his first trainings in theatre, dance, and music during his school years. At the age of 17 he was accepted to the Musicalakademiet, a branch of the Danish Stage Arts School, where he would graduate with a bachelor\u2019s degree in 2019. From that moment on S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund began working as a musical performer, most notably playing the lead role of Tony in West Side Story at the Copenhagen Opera House between 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n
S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund is not new to the stage of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix: in 2023 he took part to the same competition with \u201cLige her\u201d, failing to qualify for the superfinal. However, 2023 was also the year when he released his first self-authored single, \u201cStor kunst\u201d. A year later, in October 2024, he released his debut EP, \u201c\u00d8jesten\u201d.<\/p>\n
In 2024, S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund was nominated for the Danish Rainbow Awards in the category \u201cArtist of the Year\u201d. This award is given to a person or group who, through sports, music, dance or acting, has pushed boundaries in or for the LGBT+ community.<\/p>\n
S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund was chosen to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 after winning Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 on February 14. After a first round of voting he was one of the three artists to make it through to the superfinal. On the second round of voting, he received the largest number of points from both the jury and the televote, winning the overall competition.<\/p>\n
The song that S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund will perform in Vienna is called \u201cF\u00f8r Vi G\u00e5r Hjem\u201d (Before we go home). It was written and composed by S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund, Clara Sofie Fabricius, Thomas Meilstrup, and Valdemar Littauer Bendixen.<\/p>\n
S\u00f8ren Torpegaard Lund will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on May 14.<\/p>\n
Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest+<\/p>\n
Denmark debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 alongside Austria and the United Kingdom. To date, Denmark has won the contest on three occasions, the first being in 1963 when Grethe & Jorgen Ingmann performed \u201cDansevise\u201d. Denmark won the contest again in 2000, represented by the Olsen Brothers.
